Security Careers
- Corrections Officer
Unfortunately, the crime rate is soaring. On the upside, that means a great job outlook for corrections officers. In fact, in order to supervise the more than 2.3 million people incarcerated in this country, employment of correctional officers is expected to grow 16 percent by 2016.
- Criminal Justice
Criminal Justice is the broad umbrella term for a number of exciting careers in law enforcement. The criminal justice system requires a wide variety of trained specialists to facilitate the process: crime prevention, law enforcement, criminal prosecution, and eventually the incarceration and rehabilitation of offenders.
- Homeland Security
Homeland Security is a rapidly expanding career field full of diverse opportunities. Not only is the work interesting, you will also help reduce our country's vulnerability to terrorist attack and minimize the damage from catastrophic events like pandemics and natural disasters.
- Law Enforcement/Police
While police work can be dangerous, it is also highly rewarding. Job opportunities with local police departments are expected to be excellent, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics recommends advanced education or military experience for those seeking more lucrative careers with state and federal agencies.
