Security Guard/ Officer

Some businesses and residential homes require minimal protection. Security guards patrol areas such as museums, factories, schools, and gated communities looking for signs of disturbance. Security officer duties involve being responsible for writing up reports, contacting police or fire departments during emergencies, screening individuals, and ensuring security systems are working properly. In some cases they may also act as escorts or operate armored vehicle transports.

Depending on the state in which you work, a security guard certificate must be obtained. Those who have taken security guard classes and have experience in the field stand to earn higher income. Experienced security guards can earn higher pay by advancing to a security manager or supervisor, should they choose.
